About Elyse Van Breemen, creator of Mz Goose®

Elyse Aronson-Van Breemen, Writer, Storyteller And Teacher, is the creator of MZ GOOSE, THE MODERN DAY MOTHER GOOSE®.

Mz Goose, the Modern Day Mother Goose® her trademarked name. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Speech and Theater, Elyse took on the persona in 1981. Her early training in the arts including dance, dramatics, violincello.

In 7th grade she was the winner of the Illinois State Speech Contest for best humorous reading and was the first chair cellist at Northwester University High School summer camp. She was an actress at the University of Wisconsin Theater and an actress in summer stock children’s theater, playing the “White Queen” in “Alice and Wonderland” and the “Princess” in “Aladdin.” After college she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.

MZ GOOSE IS KNOWN FOR HER NON-VIOLENT NURSERY RHYMES AND STORIES.

HER PURPOSE: To provide children with uplifting literature that increases their imagination and creativity; to bring the literature to life through the art of storytelling. To inspire and encourage children to create aesthetic products through creative dramatics, creative writing and movement, utilizing music as well.

SIDELINE – AN INTERESTING BEGINNING:

Karen Black, actress, known for Five Easy Pieces, Easy Rider, Nashville, was a friend of Elyse’s. They met at Karen’s house one day and Karen invited her to write a story with her, each one writing one line, the other, the next. The resultant story, The Lonely Dragon, exists today, and her honor, it should be published. Elyse cherishes that story, as she cherishes Karen’s memory. It was an impetus to her creating Mz Goose.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

PUBLICATIONS: Early works were “Alphabet in Rhymes,” “Crab and the Cat,” “Many Ways of Being Me,” “My Five Senses” all published by Abilities Research, Los Angeles.

Self published The Rhymes and Songs of Mz Goose and “The Happy Without Drugs Song.”

Authored the Mz Goose Color Me Cookbook, a sugarless, healthful, easy to do cookbook, published by LaFray Publishing, which sold 8,000 in Florida.

Authored The Happiness Fables, 26 fables like Aesop, with modern day morals, where the children guess “the lesson of the story.This, her most recent book,is published in seven languages: English, German, Czechoslovakian, Slovakian, Spanish, Chinese, Hungarian, and distributed in countries that speak those languages. PERFORMANCES: Performed in schools, libraries, malls, bookstores and festival as puppet-storyteller throughout the US, including the famed White House Easter Egg Roll.

CREATED HER OWN TV SHOW: Created, produced and directed the Mz Goose TV show which aired in Florida. Children wrote and performed their own skits, which encouraged values, creativity and learning.
